	Joseph Harold "Zeke" Secrease, age 77, of Pinckneyville, passed away to
be with his Lord at 6:22 p.m. on Tuesday, December 14, 2004 in St. Mary's
Good Samaritan Health Center in Mt. Vernon.  
	Zeke was born on February 22, 1927 in St. Louis, Mo., a son to Joseph
Secrease and Hazel (Jones) Hawk.  He married Hildred Lafferty on March 13,
1949 in Pinckneyville and she survives.  He was a lifelong resident of
Pinckneyville and worked as a coal miner and welder prior to retirement to
his farm.  He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II as a
military policeman in Italy.  He was an active member of the First Apostolic
Church of Pinckneyville.  He was also a dedicated member of Mitchell Lodge
#85 for 50 years where he was a past Master, as well as, American Legion
Post #2504 and the UMWA.
	Mr. Secrease was loved and will be greatly missed by his wife, one son:
Joseph Secrease, Jr, three daughters: Betty Jo Herbert and husband Del of
Mt. Vernon, Jane Bird and Randy Juenger of Pinckneyville, and Karen Gutzler
and huband Jeff of Nashville and a sister: Sharon "Kay" Carns.  He was very
proud of his eight grandchildren: Jeremy Herbert, Mandy Stachyra and husband
Tom, Joshua, Micah and Kaitlyn Bird, Haley Queen, Justin Secrease and Skylar
Braun, and a great-granddaughter: Althea Stachyra.  He also loved his many
nieces, nephews and cousins.
	He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Imogene "Sis" Fisher, a
daughter: Carol Ann Secrease, and a granddaughter: Melanie Jo Herbert.
	Funeral services will be held in the First Apostolic Church, Pinckneyville
on Friday, December 17, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Leonard Glover and
Reverend Jimmie Jenkel officiating.   Interment will be in Mueller Hill
Cemetery, Pinckneyville.  
	Friends may call at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville on Thursday
from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30
a.m. then at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until services.  Masonic services
will be held Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  

 

Military rites will be provided by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post
#2504 of Pinckneyville.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Apostolic Church of
Pinckneyville.
